So nearly there.
But not quite.
What could be the cause of RLV's showing beautifully in (TTS3) Simulation Mode but then a) become irritatingly pixellated (like a coloured snow storm) when in Training Mode and b) cycling too slowly in Training Mode.
a) happens to my commercially bought DVDs as well as the recently installed Mt BawBaw (thanks Lunicus) so is not due to any RLV download problems
b) happens only to the RLV download (only Mt BawBaw to date) - but it makes it un-workable as it takes me about three minutes to even cross the road to start. Altering the only adjustable setting (power) makes little difference and despite my pedalling frantically the programme still flickers on and off to "cycling paused" without a decent excuse.
I have the wherewithal to re-install the software but I did that a while ago and it is just the same.
Time to give up ........or some hope yet?

Thanks - is there anything I can do about it? Bearing in mind that I am not IT savvy. Any downloads available to fix these things?

It is possible that reinstalling the FFDSHOW will solve your problem.

Try different versions in combination with different versions of your graphics card driver.
Yes, it’s not easy.

Brilliant! Thanks so much for both those links - the first bringing back memories of what a great database it was, and the second to reinstall FFDSHOW which has indeed solved the snowstorm and brought my old commercial RLVs back to life. Mt BawBaw no longer has the snowstorm but is still too fast in simulation mode and impossibly slow in training mode. I will play around a bit as suggested but any more ideas? I will have a go at downloading some more, but the fact that I can start having a look at buying some more RLVs will brighten my winter training.

The Real Life Videomoves too slowly

Uninstall the following programs if they are present on your machine:
ffdshow
K-lite codec pack
Format Factory
Vdvix
DivX Codec
Pinnacle TV Center
TVersity media center
TVersity
Please uninstall them through your control panel

But install the ffdshow component again.

None of those are currently installed, apart from ffdshow. But there is a programme called ATI AVIVO Codecs. Is it worth removing this, would it do any harm by doing so}

Try if you know how to return to its original state.

What graphics card are you using. Could be driver/codec related. Also how much graphic memory.
